Family Weekend Day of Service
This year The LEAD Office is coordinating the 2016 Family Weekend Day of Service on Saturday, October 15th (Johnson Center, Atrium). We invite you to participate in one or more of our signature service opportunities to serve the local community. The Family Weekend Day of Service is open to the entire campus community and it’s FREE!
This year’s service projects include:
- Letters to Firefighters: Families will write letters of thanks to local area firefighters. Letters will be mailed to local area fire stations shortly after the event.
- Rover’s Recovery: Participants in the Day of Service will sew fleece heating pads filled with rice for shelter animals to receive after surgeries. Heating pads will be donated to the Fairfax Humane Society.
- Pottery Painting for Assisted Living Facilities: Families will paint flower pots to be delivered to local area assisted living facilities.
- Pop-Up Pantry: Participants in this event will bring donations for George Mason’s campus pop-up pantry. Volunteers will also help with weighing, sorting, and organizing the donations. The pantry serves Mason students in need.
